    Cassa previdenziale

Also known as: professional pension fund, cassa professionale

A cassa previdenziale is the mandatory pension fund of a regulated Italian profession — lawyers, architects, accountants, doctors and others whose activity requires registration in an albo. D.Lgs. 103/1996 extended compulsory pension cover to those professions, and their members pay contributions to their own cassa rather than to INPS.1

    What this means for you

It decides who collects your pension contributions. Needs an albo? You pay your cassa. Everyone else — most freelancers, consultants and developers — pays INPS Gestione Separata. Rates, minimum contributions and deadlines are set by each fund, so budget from your own cassa's rules, not from the Gestione Separata rate.
