What cookies and local storage TaxCompass uses, and how to control them. We use analytics and functional storage only — no advertising cookies, ever.

1. What we use
Cookies and similar technologies (such as your browser's local storage) let a site remember you between visits. TaxCompass uses two kinds, and nothing else:
- Functional storage — small values kept on your device so the product works the way you left it (your theme, your language, and — for anonymous use — your chats and setup plan, which stay on your device until you clear them).
- Analytics — PostHog (hosted in the EU) helps us understand which pages and features are used so we can improve them. We do not use analytics to build advertising profiles, and we never share this data with ad networks.

4. How to control cookies
You are in control. You can:
- block or delete cookies in your browser settings (most browsers let you do this per site);
- clear your local storage from the same settings to remove the functional values above;
- use a private / incognito window, which discards everything when you close it.
Blocking functional storage may reset your preferences and clear any locally-saved chats or plan. Blocking analytics has no effect on the features you can use.
