Terms of Service

    The terms on which you may use TaxCompass. Please read them — especially the part about what TaxCompass is, and is not.

    Last updated 31 May 2026 · Version 1.0

    1. Acceptance

    By using TaxCompass (the “Service”) you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service. You must be at least 18 years old to use TaxCompass.

    2. What TaxCompass is

    TaxCompass is an AI assistant that helps foreign founders understand how to open and run a business in Italy — in English, with answers grounded in official sources. It is currently in active development (beta); features may change, break or be withdrawn.

    3. Not professional advice

    TaxCompass provides general information and orientation, not tax, legal, accounting or investment advice, and using it does not create a professional relationship. Under Italian law (Art. 348 of the Criminal Code), the work of a commercialista is reserved to licensed professionals. TaxCompass does not perform that reserved activity: before you file anything or make a decision with legal or financial consequences, confirm it with a qualified commercialista or other licensed professional.

    Tax rules change and individual situations differ. While we ground answers in primary sources and show citations so you can verify them (see our Methodology), information may be incomplete, out of date or not applicable to you. Any numbers are estimates.

    4. Your account and content

    Some features require signing in via Microsoft Entra External ID. You are responsible for keeping access to your sign-in secure and for the accuracy of what you tell the Service. You keep all rights to the content you submit; you grant us only the permissions needed to operate the Service for you (for example, storing and processing your messages to produce answers).

    5. Acceptable use

    You agree not to misuse the Service. In particular, you will not:

    • use it for anything unlawful, or to infringe anyone's rights;
    • attempt to disrupt, overload, reverse-engineer or gain unauthorised access to it;
    • rely on its output as a substitute for advice from a licensed professional.

    6. Third-party sources and links

    The Service cites and links to official sources (such as Normattiva, the Agenzia delle Entrate and INPS) and uses third-party providers. We are not responsible for the content, accuracy or availability of third-party sites and services.

    7. No warranty and limitation of liability

    The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for any decision you make based on the Service's output. Nothing in these Terms limits any liability that cannot be limited under applicable law, including your rights as a consumer.

    8. Changes, suspension and termination

    We may update these Terms or change, suspend or discontinue the Service. We will update the version and date above; material changes will be signalled in the product. You can stop using the Service at any time and, if you have an account, delete it from your account settings.

    9. Governing law and contact

    These Terms are governed by Italian law, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer protections of your country of residence. Questions about these Terms? Email jan@taxcompass.it. How we handle your data is described in our Privacy Policy.
